Sulapac nominated for “Innovation of the Year” at UK Packaging Awards 2025

We’re proud to announce that Sulapac has been nominated in the “Innovation of the Year” category at the UK Packaging Awards 2025 for our collaboration with Atom Group on the Drinks by the Dram tasting set.

This recognition highlights the power of material innovation to elevate both design and sustainability in premium consumer packaging.

A sustainable yet premium experience

The nominated solution features a packaging insert designed to cradle the signature 30 ml drams in the Drinks by the Dram tasting set. The insert is made with biobased Sulapac® Flow 1.7, a unique thermoformable material that offers plastic-like functionality without leaving permanent microplastics behind and with significant reductions in CO₂ emissions.

Thanks to its elastic memory, the insert allows for repeated in and out clicking, while securely holding the drams making it ideal for gifting and e-commerce. Its moisture resistance and smooth, high-end finish complement the look and feel expected from luxury spirits packaging, all while being biobased and industrially compostable.

 

Designed for circularity and scalability

Sulapac Flow 1.7 is manufactured using wood flour, a side stream from sawmills, combined with responsibly sourced biopolymers. It’s compatible with existing thermoforming lines, making it easy to adopt at scale without needing to overhaul production infrastructure.

This insert is a real-world example of how bio-benign materials can replace conventional plastics in demanding applications – without compromising quality, performance or brand expression.
