Sulapac was founded by two biochemists with a clear mission: to save the world from plastic waste. Sustainability has therefore never been an add-on for us – it is the foundation of our business and the driving force behind every product we develop.

Sulapac materials are designed to reduce CO₂ emissions and eliminate the accumulation of permanent microplastics and toxic chemicals in our environment. Furthermore, they are engineered to replace conventional plastic at scale, enabling a global shift away from fossil dependency toward a sustainable bioeconomy.

Design principles guiding our product development

Sulapac materials are made with 100% biodegradable raw materials. The biobased content is currently 70-100% with continuous actions to further maximize the percentage. All our materials are designed to be safe for both people and the environment. They comply with a comprehensive set of chemical safety requirements and meet the EN 13432 or ASTM D6400 standard for industrial compostability. In addition, their biodegradability has been verified in marine environments.

Reducing climate impact

We have calculated our company carbon footprint to understand where to focus our future CO₂ reduction efforts for the greatest impact.

Importantly, we help our customers transition from fossil-based plastic to biobased, low carbon alternatives – at scale. With Sulapac, this shift requires no investments in new factories or production lines.

Driving​ bioeconomy​

We offer biobased options to the market that reduce environmental impact and support a sustainable bioeconomy. Our main raw materials are biobased biopolymers and wood from northern European forests.

We ensure the sustainable origin of the plant raw material through our comprehensive raw material evaluation process and by utilizing side streams and recycled content as much as possible.

Moreover, we promote circularity by designing materials that can be effectively recycled or composted in their end of life.

Ensuring social responsibility in the supply chain

We carefully evaluate each supplier according to our supplier approval process which is specified in our ISO 9001 certified quality management system.
