Sulapac nominated for the Sustainability Awards

Together with our customer Hesburger, we have been selected as finalists in the Sustainability Awards by Packaging Europe. The nomination recognises Hesburger’s reusable cups made from Sulapac Solid 2.0 material in the Reuse category.

Burger chain Hesburger‘s cups made of Sulapac Solid material have been shortlisted for The Sustainability Awards 2026 in the Reuse category. The category recognizes innovative solutions and applications of reusable or refillable packaging systems.

The Sulapac Solid cups are currently in use across all 69 Hesburger restaurants in Lithuania.

The 100% biobased Sulapac Solid material performs like conventional plastic but does not leave behind microplastic pollution. It has a significantly lower carbon footprint than traditional plastic. Sulapac Solid has been tested for PFAS compounds with zero such ‘forever chemicals’ detected.

One of the key challenges Sulapac Solid tackles is finding the balance between durability and sustainability. This rare combination has been achieved through extensive research and material development, led by Sulapac’s team of polymer science and chemistry experts.

Sulapac Solid resists wear and tear, maintaining its premium look and feel even after repeated use. The cups can be washed and reused up to 300 times, and at end-of-life they can be recycled through a hydrolysis-based process.

Sulapac Solid combines the best characteristics of plastics and ceramics, offering a pleasant premium touch while remaining lightweight and durable. With branding options, including customizable colors and  logo printing, it’s a sustainable choice that strengthens brand identity.

The winner will be announced at the Sustainable Packaging Summit on 11 November. Thank you Hesburger for being on this journey with us!
