Lumene brings a new set of skincare products in Sulapac packaging to the market

As part of their strategic efforts to increase the usage of renewable and recycled raw-materials, Lumene has chosen Sulapac for the jars of their Nordic-C [Valo] skincare range.

LUMENE was the first cosmetic brand in the world using Sulapac material for the packaging of water-based skincare products. The two LUMENE moisturizers in Sulapac jars were launched in 2022. The outer part of the jar is made of wood-containing Sulapac, while the inner lining of the jar is made of the innovative Sulapac barrier material giving the packaging the protective properties needed to maintain the quality of the sensitive skincare emulsion.

This Summer LUMENE brings another set of skincare products in bio-based Sulapac jars to the market: Nordic-C [Valo] Glow Reveal Moisturizer and a new addition, Nordic-C [Valo] Overnight Bright Sleeping Cream.

The project has been accelerated by the company’s ambitious target to significantly increase the use of renewable or recycled materials. The company aims to have 80% of their packaging made from renewable or recycled content by 2025.

While testing the suitability of several new packaging materials for cosmetics use LUMENE is also investigating the consumers’ attitudes towards novel innovations, tells Essi Arola, Head of R&D, Sustainability & Packaging at LUMENE.

The sustainable Sulapac jar is the choice of a conscious consumer. It’s made of bio-based and biodegradable biopolymers, FSC certified wood, sourced from forest industry side streams, and natural clay minerals. All Sulapac materials go through a rigorous research, testing, and validation process to ensure their safety for people – and the planet, while guaranteeing an adequate shelf life, product stability, and impact resistance.

The new LUMENE products packed in beautiful Sulapac jars are available internationally on LUMENE’s online store and in selected stores in Finland from June onwards.
